Meh

'Sup peeps. As usual, I'm writing 'cause I have nothing better to do. Which is bad news for you, my readers, because I will then spend the length of this entire post complaining. I will, of course, complain about the thing that is preying most on my mind first - which would be Australia. Hmm. What to say about Australia? How hard it is to find (let alone get) a full scholarship offered to international students? How complicated the Visa laws and regulations are? Technically, these are only two difficult points, but boy, I could rant on about them until hell froze over and pigs flew. On another note, I will be starting my course practicum in about 4 days. Which, in perfect conditions, I could care less about because I (conceitedly) think I can handle it anyway. But there are still some loose ends that can't (won't) be tied up so soon, and that's got me jumpy. Sometimes I wonder if my best skill is worrying about nothing. Still, I have some good news this time! Well, rather interesting news than good news. I met two tourists from the Netherlands!! Okay, okay, it's hardly worth pissin' in my pants for, but I've always had a fascination for Westerners (go figure), and the Netherlands sounds like a cool place. Political fairness, citizen welfare, good scenery and all that. All of which don't exist here...except for the scenery, and I don't know how long it'll last. It's where I'd want to go, if I had the choice. But you know the saying "building castles in the air"? Well, I'm building castles in...the Netherlands. Well, since I managed write something good on my blog for once, I'll end here. XOXO Sophiateoh

Crap

Yea, okay, so I haven't exactly been updating this blog as often as I should, but give a girl a break: I can't update if I don't know what to update about. Plus I only update when I have nothing better to do. Which explains why it is currently 2.45am, and I am sitting half-asleep in front of the computer waiting for my sister to come home. She's taken a bus from KL. And she's coming back this late because she's had to work before CNY. She works at Nuffnang, can you believe it? Their entire office is orange with floor-to-ceiling windows, cabinets full of Mamee, and televisions equipped with ASTRO and (gasp!) Wii. Yes, I know, I'm crapping, but her office is just so cool (nothing compared to Google, though). Okay. Now I'll move on to the CNY post. Happy Chinese New Year, everyone! But that's all you're getting. Like the proverbial Grinch, I do not like CNY. It's too bright, too loud, too troublesome, and my relatives (some of 'em, anyway) are just too annoying. The only good thing about it is that I get to earn moolah off of it. Oh well, so sue me; I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Anyway, I reckon I can sum up the past few weeks in a few sentences, so here goes: my exams sucked. my holidays have started; too bad they don't show The Ellen Degeneres Show anymore, but I can still see her on American Idol. congratulations to Taylor Swift for her Grammys. Happy Birthday Shan Yuee. And so there ya go. My life in a nutshell. Cheers

Unhappy Reflections

Well, here I am, finally updating my blog for anyone who reads it (not that I think anyone does). But if there ARE people reading it, then I should apologise, because this won't be a happy post.
First of all, the most important news: I turned 19 yesterday. Happy Birthday to me. I don't know if it was a happier or sadder day, because everyone that I expected to remember my birthday forgot, and everyone that I didn't expect to remember my birthday remembered. I'll spare my readers the details. It is suffice to say that I went to bed feeling surprised, grateful, guilty, hurt and insignificant. Oh well, another day, another drama.
It is custom that bloggers reminisce about the previous year's exploits at midnight on New Year's day, but since I missed my mandatory New Year's post, I shall give the general overview of life as 18-year-old me now.
So many things have happened in the past year that I don't know where to start. At the part where I lost some friends? Found out others weren't my friends at all? Got closer to yet others? Or at the part where I fell way, way too much in like with the wrong person? Or at the part where I am planning, wishing and hoping to go away to Australia and never come back, but yet am scared that I will fail or lose my way and end up at the very place I am running away from?
All these are not pleasant reflections, but mine may not have been a pleasant year, had I not been trying so hard to keep from falling into my usual habits of being depressed. My life is only as difficult as many others', and certainly less difficult than many more, but still I am far too likely to tilt towards the glass-is-half-empty mentality. I don't know what I should do about it. Sometimes it is so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, even if the tunnel is only the smallest one, and I know I shall emerge eventually.
But at the end of the day, all this is inconsequential. Evolution dictates that I must have survival instincts, and therefore I must survive in a way that makes me happy. Perhaps from now on I will learn to care less for others and more for myself; perhaps from now on I will learn to worry less. There is something to be said about the carefree way of living. A hill, a lake and a house in the middle of a prairie. Something I must try.
Anyway, to devote my blog to the unhappiness of my life would be a waste of space and of bytes. And so, I have decided, at the suggestion of a friend, to use my blog primarily to write stories. If I ever get past feeling that they suck. I take leave here.
Yours truly,
Sophia

Little Miss Never-Updates-Her-Blog Updates Her Blog II

Contrary to my usual bouts of laziness, I have decided to update my blog for the second time this week (gasp!).
Joanne's birthday was on Tuesday, but according to her, she was too tired to go to any party. So we turned the tables on her and brought the party to her^^ We went to Jusco to buy cake, junk food and soft drinks, and surprised her with them at her house after that. There was also a (very funny and very strange) foot-massaging session, courtesy of Teck Xiang (though I think that was unplanned). I hope you had fun, Joanne.
Yeon Teng's birthday was on Friday, but we celebrated it on Thursday because some people weren't free on Friday. It was a Birthday cum House-Warming Party, where Darren as well as Joanne cooked and the rest of us ate XD You two cook good, btw. It was all very fun because there were like, fifteen people there, and we were making tons of noise. There was another impromptu (and just as funny and strange) foot-massaging session, and a bunch of us gathered in front of the computer to talk to (or torture) Shan Yuee (which probably made her head spin). I hope we get to do this often.
XOXO,

Little Miss Never-Updates-Her-Blog Updates Her Blog

After 3 long weeks of nothingness, I've penitently decided to update my blog (cause I finally have stuff to write =.=).
To start with, we celebrated Cindy's birthday...was it last week? I think it was. Okay, so technically it's waaaay past her birthday, but it was during sem break and we didn't get to celebrate it for her then and so we did it last week. We decided to eat at Daorae but it wasn't open yet when we got there so we went to Carrfour (is that how you spell it?). I bought butter cookies and two boxes of them chewy bars, or whatever they're called. We also visited a pet shop. The dogs there were so cute! I wish I could adopt one :( sigh...if ever there was someone rich enough and kind enough to buy me a dog, a cage for it and a place to hide it so the hostel authorities won't know, I'd like the Labrador Retriever for my next birthday (hint, hint XD). Anyway, returning to birthdays more important than mine, we went to eat at Daorae after that and I found out one of two things:
1. I like Korean food
2. That day was fun!
The second thing I have to write is that I visited KLCC with my roommate Eva on Saturday. I bought a 3D puzzle which I have now put up (whether or not I will eventually show you the picture of it depends on whether I will eventually overcome my laziness - so...probably not) and a platinum-coated bracelet that cost only 10 bucks. It's real pretty - shiny with fishbones and a bell.
The last thing - today is Sky's birthday. Happy 22nd Birthday, Sky! One year older but none the wiser ^^ kidding. We went to Nando's just now to celebrate it. One thing we found out was that their "extra-hot" isn't hot. We also bought a cake from Secret Recipe which everyone but Darren found to be too heavy on cheese. Cindy, Yen, Yeon Teng, Shan Yuee and I pooled our money to buy Sky a piggy bank (well, more like a teddy bank, really) with which he is apparently supposed to "save money for his future wife" =.= He also got many other presents, 3 of which are the similar soft toy in a similar colour in 3 different sizes :S oh well, Happy Family.
Tomorrow is Joanne's birthday and Yeon Teng's is on the 19th. So, Happy Birthday Joanne and Yeon Teng (because we all know I'll be too lazy to keep updating it). Joanne, look! I finally updated my blog. That's your birthday present...okay, I'm kidding.
That's about it for my extra-long blog post. See y'all around...sometime.
XOXO.

P.S. Haagen-Daaz, anyone?

Hello Again, Stranger

As y'all may have noticed (or not), there have been people bugging me to update my blog, which I haven't been doing since there's nothing for me to update on XD besides, I've had sem break for 3 weeks and couldn't be bothered to think up random stuff to write. TV is entertaining.
Anyway, let's see...what's new? I bought new stuff for my old hostel room (speaking of which, I have a new roommate. She's okay), I cut my hair (no more long hair! Sob) and I got contact lenses (which I take a helluva long time to wear). For the sake of my dignity and your gag reflex, thou shalt not see any pictures of my new look on my blog.
At any rate, I'm back now. The new semester has started, and our first lesson of the second year of diploma (gosh, we're old) is Developmental Psychology by Ms. Caren. Pretty soon we'll be graduating. That scares me. But I'm glad I'm back. I missed y'all.
XOXO,
Sophiateoh

The Joy of Secret Recipe and the Curse of MPH

Joanne and I went to JJ after the exam just now...mostly to buy junk food XD
After that we went to Secret Recipe for lunch...and dinner! Within a period of 3 hours!!
We ate lasagna (wtf?! at secret recipe??) - it was pretty nice -  the first time we went, then went to mph to look at books. Suffice to say, my self-control in bookshops is ridiculously weak, and I had to buy a notebook - there wasn't enough money for a proper book with words in them - to pacify myself (I now know how Rebecca Bloomwood - and Cindy! - feels).
After that we walked around randomly, looked at sheep, and finally sat down to chat and to, erm...digest lunch. Then we went for dinner XD and ate cake this time (duh). The staff recognised us. They were beaming from ear to ear at us. And when we left, our server suggested we go back there tomorrow. Lol.
Anyway, I'm going to dive into junk food now. Bye.

Dear Diary,

I don't really have anything interesting to say, so I don't know how often I'll be updating my blog. Sorry, Joanne XD.
Anyway, the most eventful thing that happened to me today was that I had a group study. It was fun, seeing as I spent most of it playing Vampire Wars and eating free food lol. Then I came home and spent the rest of the day chatting online. That's pretty much what my life is like. I have another group study tomorrow. Anyways, I gotta compose an e-mail before I collapse from utter exhaustion. So bye.
P.S. Chatting online is fun!!
P.P.S. Have y'all heard Big Bang's Haru Haru before? It's a nice song. The mv is so touching.
